Backup Failed: 'The system cannot find the file specified. Code 0x80070002

Hi,

So I've been trying to create a system image of my current C drive the HDD has been failing recently and I plan to change my HDD on my Acer laptop. 

Problem is, whenever I try to create a system image, it would backup until about 60% and then fail with the window saying
"The backup failed.
The system cannot find the file specified.
(0x80070002)"
and in the hdd where the backup is supposed to be there is a folder named "WindowsImageBackup" size of ~60GB (backup was around 109GB) so I assume there was an error?

I'm trying to create the image on an external hard drive (WD 500GB) and there is sufficient space.
Tried few solutions but they all haven't been working so far (REGEDIT changing to 20mins, moving external hdd to power USB port)

Not sure whether it is a software problem or a hardware problem as my current HDD with Windows on it has been running really slow with the light on 99% of the time and also probably quite a few bad sectors

Any help would be greatly appreciated..
