browser window

How can I get my browser to open with the window at maxiumum size? I have tried pulling it out to the max size and then closing the window with cntl W.
That no longer works.
I am on Windows XP Pro.

However, try the below steps and check if you still experience the issue:
 When you open a window and resize it and then close it, the new window would remain the same till you restart.
Once you restart the computer it is set to default.
There is no option in the windows to keep it.
However, you can try the work around here.

 1.
Open a Window and make it the size you want.
2.
Open a 2nd Window and make it the same size.

3.
Bring the 1st Window to the front, hold CTRL and click the red X in the top right hand corner.

4.
Close the 2nd Window in the same way using CTRL.

Tweak IE Options

• Open Internet Explorer.
• Go to "Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab".
• Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions".
• Click "Apply".
  
• Reboot your computer.
