Cannot add a logical partition

I have been using Windows 7 on my laptop since i bought it.
I had three drives on my extended partition.
However, after I removed the second and third drive for some reason, I have not been able to add them again.
I keep getting the error "Virtual Disk Manager: Parameter is Incorrect" when trying to add from theDisk Management console.
