Computer repeated freeze requiring hard reset, and many other queries

The most urgent problem is the freezing, event viewer shows "Application Experience service entered the stopped state."....which kinda sounds like pc speak for 'computer froze'.
It happens when trying to close videos....but not every time.
Not any particular
video or anything.
Computer stops responding to input entierly, and for at least 5 hours....only way out is hard reset.
Help?

Other questions...

If I leave the computer alone for a few hours, my wireless reports it does not have internet access.
Disconnecting & reconnecting works, but why does it lose it/how do I stop it? (signal is fine, and even if it lost it temporarily for microwave or whatever,
it should reconnect automatically)

how do I get the start menu 'all programs' to pop up to the right like in previous versions, so I don't have to scroll?

Is there any way I can get links to the my pictures folder etc, NOT the 'libraries', where the libraries are now in the start menu?

How can I get the status bar to display filesize of selected item/s?

How can I set the appearance of all folders, including folders yet to be created, and will it stick? (be honest, if its gonna keep resetting itself like vista did I don't want to waste time keeping changing them back).

Double clicking on the...whatever the bar is at the top of windows...selection bar?.....sometimes doesn't maximise the window, merely stretches it heightways, but doesn't change the width.
What's up with that?

Near everything I do in windows media player seems to either de-maximise the window, or switch to libraries instead of now playing.
How can I stop everything except the maximise button/switch to libraries button doing this?

How can I set it so opening WMP from taskbar will open to now playing, not libraries?

Sometimes windows display as having focus, but when I then try to browse via keyboard....they clearly don't.

When cutting and pasting folders, I get multiple error messages about not being able to find the folder.
If I ignore them it still works, but...what's going wrong?

Is there any way to move the desktop button back to with the other taskbar buttons, instead of being next to the clock?

When finished manually checking for windows updates(and regardless of whether or not there are new updates), windows update will switch the screen back to itself from whatever else I was doing...leading to clicking buttons I didn't intend to.
It's not a problem
that's going to occur often, but while I'm here.......can I turn that off, not only for update but also anything else that's going to display such behaviour?
