My Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A keeps dropping characters.  I often have to pound on a key several times.   I can reset it and it works a bit better for a short time, but then starts dropping characters again. 
Will reinstalling the software/drivers help? If so is there a link for that?

Probably not.
If so is there a link for that?
I don't know for sure, but it sounds like either the battery needs
replacing or else the keyboard itself is failing and it needs
replacing.
