problem with file system NTFS on C drive error keeps coming up disks need to be checked for consistency

laptop is new in august.  downloaded some pics.  every so often i get this message telling me that windows is checking file system on C.  type of file system is NTFS vol.1
One of the disks needs to be checked for consistency.  Then it says windows checking disk.  Do I need to take the laptop back to the store to have it looked at or is it a simple solution that I can fix myself.  However I'm new to computers so I don't exactly
know what I'm doing

Did you enable any feature in Schedule tasks feature?
2.
What is the result after running the check disk?
3.
Does it happen everytime you restart  the computer?
If the computer is not shut down properly then the computer starts the check disk on next restart.
 
Remove the Chkdsk.exe or the Autochk.exe program from Scheduled Tasks
Follow these steps to remove the Chkdsk.exe or the Autochk.exe program from the list of scheduled tasks in the Scheduled Tasks feature.
a.
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks.
b.
Click either Chkdsk or Autochk in the list of scheduled tasks.
c.
Under Folder Tasks, click Delete this item.
