95% of 2GB RAM being used in Win 7, but only 300MB of processes in use?
In Windows 7, sometime my pc uses almost all its RAM, when I'm only using a few programs.
I know that Win 7 is designed to cache unused RAM so that it can load programs quicker, but it is up to 95% and the system is running very slowly, seemingly struggling to use the page file for even the smallest task (opening a new webpage).
When I look in Task Manager at the processes running for all users,
these processes add up to around 300MB.
What is using the other 1.6GB? It's not even RAM that's cached, it's apparently all being used, but by what?
I've ran scans for viruses and malware, but have found no problems.
P.S.
To pre-empt comments about 2GB not being enough RAM etc.- That is just nonesense, 2GB is plenty for my requirements, I am not doing any RAM intensive work, and the same activity in Vista used hardly any RAM...

Open Action Center by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, clicking Review your computer's status.
Make sure your computer has at least the minimum amount of random access memory (RAM) required to run the program that is displaying the error. Look for the program requirements online or in the packaging information.
